Description

You get on your bike in the heart of Rhenen at the foot of the Cunerakerk, named after the legend of Cunera. Legend has it that a young group of women were on a pilgrimage to Rome, but they were murdered near Cologne. Cunera was the only one who escaped with the help of a king from Rhenen, but his jealous wife had her strangled. After her death, miracles happened at her grave. Other places of interest that you will cycle past are Frankish cemeteries on a meadow on the Berkenweg and burial mounds in the woods near the Elsterberg. Some burial mounds are no less than 4000 years old. You then cycle along the Egelmeer, a marshy area with forests and heaths.
