Description

You get on your bike in the heart of Rhenen at the foot of the Cunerakerk, named after the legend of Cunera. According to the legend, a young group of women were on a pilgrimage to Rome, but they were murdered near Cologne. Cunera was the only one who escaped with the help of a king from Rhenen, but his jealous wife had her strangled. After her death, miracles happened at her grave. Other sights you cycle past are Frankish burial grounds on a meadow on the Berkenweg and burial mounds in the forests near the Elsterberg. Some burial mounds are no less than 4000 years old. Then you cycle past the Egelmeer, a marshy area with forests and heathlands.
