Walking route Heeswijk Castle

From Heeswijk-Dinther you can walk straight into the countryside. Here you walk along grasslands, through a grove and along the banks of the river Aa. It is wonderfully quiet here, ideal for a chat with your fellow walkers. At junction 21 you reach Heeswijk Castle. This medieval castle is a former moated castle from the eleventh century and is now turned into a museum. The surrounding estate consists of an alternation of old deciduous forest, former coppice and agricultural land. You return to Heeswijk-Dinther along the leafy Gouverneursweg and the car-free Veldstraat. Here you walk past the Berne Abbey, which houses the oldest monastic community in the Netherlands, founded in 1134. The route ends at Next to Lunch & Eetcafé. Time for a cozy terrace and a delicious meal!
