Description

From Heeswijk-Dinther you can easily walk into the countryside. Here you walk along grasslands, through a forest and along the bank of the Aa river. It is wonderfully quiet here, ideal for catching up with your fellow hikers. At junction 21 you reach Heeswijk Castle. This medieval castle is a former moated castle from the eleventh century and is now a museum. The surrounding estate consists of a variety of old deciduous forest, former coppice and agricultural land. You return to Heeswijk-Dinther along the leafy Gouverneursweg and along the car-free Veldstraat. Here you walk past the Berne Abbey, which houses the oldest monastic community in the Netherlands, founded in 1134. The route ends at Next to Lunch & Eetcafé. Time for a cozy terrace and a delicious meal!
