Tour of the Heuvelrug and Grebbelinie from Kesteren

Your route starts at restaurant Broer & Ko in Kesteren. The best of both worlds is combined in this cycle route: the wooded southern area of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and the watery surroundings of the Lower Rhine. Prattenburg country estate is located on the edge of Veenendaal. On the estate there is a house with a castle-like appearance, built in 1887. The estate was first mentioned in a document from 1474. At the foot of the wooded Grebbeberg you cycle along the banks of the Rhine. Get off at the Grebbesluis and the associated eighteenth-century earthen defenses of the Grebbelinie. From the Grebbedijk you have a view of the Blauwe Kamer, an unspoilt nature reserve with lakes, grasslands and marsh forest. A little later you cross the Rhine again.
