A visit to Roermond

Your cycling heart will beat faster in Central Limburg. This route takes you through beautiful nature areas such as the Munningsbos and the Melickse Heide. You also drive through some old church villages and the historic center of cozy Roermond.

Cozy Roermond
On the Maas you can drive for miles along the Maasplassen, the largest contiguous water sports area in the Netherlands. On one side you can see the masts of many pleasure boats, on the other side Roermond. Of course you also drive a bit through the historic part of this Limburg gem. At the Markt, for example, you can see the iconic town hall that originally dates from 1700. St. Christopher's Cathedral from 1410 is also beautiful. From the Roerkade you cross the river via the Stenen Brug from 1771.

There is also plenty to see in the church villages. Just south of Boukoul you pass Zuidewijk Spick, a castle farm from the seventeenth century. Part of Asselt is a protected village view. You will see beautiful nineteenth-century farms and the Sint-Dionysiuskerk, located on a church hill, whose tower dates from 1515. At Boerderijterras and Camping het Spikkerdal you can enjoy a fresh pie with coffee or a dish from the small menu.
