A tour through the Gelderse Valley

Your route starts at Pannekoekenboerderij Grietje. There are no large towns along your route, only old, characteristic hamlets. Wonderfully authentic! Today is truly a day to enjoy the peace and quiet. You will drive a considerable distance along the Valleikanaal, a waterway that formed an important part of the Grebbelinie. A special spot on your route is the surroundings of Renswoude Castle. The castle itself is beautiful; it dates back to 1350. But the entire surrounding area is also very beautiful: around the castle forest, you drive through a small-scale landscape with groves, meadows, hedgerows, and lowland streams. On Dorpsstraat in Renswoude (to the right of junction 36), there are still a number of former service houses for the castle staff from the eighteenth century. The castle itself is privately owned and therefore not accessible.
