Tour of Woudrichem, Loevestein and Aalst

First you drive through a number of Brabant villages that lie on the Afgedamde Maas. You will successively pass through Wijk and Aalburg, Veen and Andel. Further away is Woudrichem. If you have enough time, you can drive into this old fortified town to experience the special atmosphere. You can cross the water on a ferry to the next historical hotspot: Loevenstein Castle. There is a museum in the castle from which Hugo Grotius escaped in spectacular fashion. You drive through the De Waarden nature reserve to the Bommelerwaard. You pass the Battery under Poederoijen, a fort that was built in 1886. Further on you cycle through Aalst and along the Drielse Wetering, a medieval drainage canal. At Hoppies you are welcome for a nice terrace after getting off.
