Tour of Woudrichem, Loevestein and Aalst

First, you'll cycle through several Brabant villages along the Afgedamde Maas river. You'll then pass through Wijk en Aalburg, Veen, and Andel. Further on lies Woudrichem. If you have enough time, you can briefly explore this old fortified town to soak up its unique atmosphere. A ferry will take you across the water to the next historical hotspot: Loevenstein Castle. A museum is housed in the castle from which Hugo Grotius made his spectacular escape. You'll cycle through the De Waarden nature reserve to the Bommelerwaard. You'll pass the Battery under Poederoijen, a fort built in 1886. Further on, you'll cycle through Aalst and along the Drielse Wetering, a medieval drainage canal. After dismounting, you're welcome to relax on a cozy terrace at Hoppies.
