Round Woudrichem, Loevestein and Aalst

First you drive through a number of Brabant villages that are located on the Dammed Maas. You pass successively through Wijk and Aalburg, Veen and Andel. Further on is Woudrichem. If you have enough time, you can drive into this old fortified town to experience the special atmosphere. With a ferry you cross the water to the next historical hotspot: Slot Loevenstein. There is a museum located in the castle from which Hugo de Groot escaped in a spectacular way. You drive through nature reserve De Waarden to the Bommelerwaard. You pass the Battery under Poederoijen, a fortress that was built in 1886. Further on you cycle through Aalst and along the Drielse Wetering, a medieval drainage canal. At Hoppies you are welcome after getting off for a cozy terrace.
