Description
When you think of the South Limburg landscape, you automatically think of rolling green meadows. This route shows you a completely different side of South Limburg. You walk through the vast forests of Geul and along the Juliana Canal, but you will of course also encounter the typical Limburg hills along the way.
Watching ships on the Juliana Canal
The first part of the route runs along the Juliana Canal. Most of the shipping from the Meuse to Belgium goes through this canal. So look out over the water and admire the huge ships that pass by. You then walk through the town of Bunde and from there you enter the Geul forests. These forests run in ribbon form all the way from Bunde to Elsloo and the area is no less than 144 hectares.
