You cycle through the cheese city of Alkmaar with its rich history, but you also cycle through the dunes in the area of Egmond aan Zee.
Cheese city Alkmaar
At the start of the route you cycle a short distance through Alkmaar. This historic city is bursting with beautiful buildings. You will find no fewer than 399 national monuments there. It is therefore definitely recommended to explore the historic center of Alkmaar on foot before or after your cycling tour. Walking route 213299 is a perfect route to explore Alkmaar. Then you cycle into the beautiful dunes via Egmond aan Zee. Breathe in the salty scent of the sea and completely relax here.
The Robonsbosmolen
Just before you cycle back into Alkmaar you will pass the Robonsbosmolen. This mill was built in 1781 to drain the Munnikenpolder, the Ravenpolder and the Robonsbospolder. The mill was damaged over the centuries by fire and a storm, as a result of which the mill could no longer operate. Around 1971 the mill was restored and converted into a house.
