Walking through Enschede parks and through Roombeek

This route takes you to a number of parks of former textile manufacturers. You pass through the GJ van Heekpark from 1918. You walk through a deciduous corridor to the adjacent Lochemsbleekpark, after which you pass a giant sequoia in the Abraham Ledeboerpark. Further on you walk through Roombeek. From the end of the nineteenth century a thriving textile industry arose here. Partly because of this, Enschede was even allowed to call itself the second largest textile city in the world, after Manchester. You pass De Museumfabriek, just before junction A13 you pass the modest monument to the fireworks disaster that took place here in 2000. Then you walk a bit along the Museumlaan with its exclusive urban villas designed by international architects. Finally, you will pass the Rijksmuseum Twenthe. The route ends at IntercityHotel Enschede.
