Description

Cycling along the Waal is wonderful. You enjoy a peaceful landscape full of meadows and grazing cows. You pass the Duffelt, a flour mill from 1868. Stop at the De Hazelaarshof farm shop! You then cycle via Millingen aan de Rijn into a low-lying region with a number of farms on high mounds. This area is called the Duffelt and extends across the German border. You will experience a refreshing silence here. In the woods on the Duivelsberg you will pass M29: Motteburcht Mergelp, a former motte castle. From Beek you cycle a bit into the vast Ooijpolder. Stop for a moment to view the Church of Persingen, a beautiful building that dates back to the Middle Ages. You cycle back through the Greenlands to Restaurant De Thornsche Molen.
