The green floodplains of the IJssel

Tower city Zutphen
The starting point of this route is in Gorssel at Museum MORE. From here you cycle along the IJssel in the direction of Eefde. Along the way you pass mill Geertruida Cornelia from 1893. At Eefde you cycle across the water to Zutphen via a bridge. This Hanseatic city is also sometimes called a'Torenstad\\\', because of the many historic buildings with a tower that can be found here. There are few modern high-rise buildings in the center of Zutphen, so that the historic spiers form the skyline. On this cycle route you ride along the edge of Zutphen, but it is also nice to take a look at the center of the city.

You then continue cycling to Voorst to continue cycling from there in the direction of Twello. At recreational lake Het Bussloo, turn right to cycle back to Gorssel. Recreational lake Het Bussloo was created by sand excavations for the A1 motorway. The lake has an area of no less than 100 hectares and it is a true paradise for water lovers. You can of course swim in the lake, but also surfing, canoeing, pedal boating and diving. Beaches with playgrounds for children have been built on the edge of the lake and there is a golf course near the lake. Enough possibilities to entertain you endlessly.
