Tour of Gouda, Oudewater and Reeuwijkse Plassen

Your route starts at Cheese Farm De Twee Hoeven. In the Groene Hart, culture and nature go hand in hand. Cycling over winding dikes, you will see old peatlands, cultivated polders and historic towns. The route takes you along the Reeuwijkse Plassen, among other places. In the rectangular shape of the lakes, you can still see how the former peatlands were divided into plots at the time. The peat was used by potteries and brewers in Gouda. From the Westvlisterdijk, you look out over the marshy shoreline of the Bergvliet. Oudewater is the oldest city in the Groene Hart. You will see the fifteenth-century Grote or Sint-Michaelskerk there. The town hall with its Renaissance facade, built in 1588, is a picture, as is the Waag from 1482. Woerden also has beautiful monuments.
