Cycling through Coevorden, Schoonebeek and Laar

At Pancake Farm De Ganzenhoeve, you'll enjoy a delicious meal before getting back on the saddle full of energy. First, you'll cycle to Coevorden, a former fortified town. You'll cycle for a while along the old city moat, then along the Stieltjes Canal, completed in 1884. Just before junction 24, you'll pass the Katshaar, an earthen fortification dating from 1672 surrounded by heathland. Westerse Bos is a protected village thanks to its beautiful historic farmhouses. Schoonebeek is one of the oldest reclamation villages in Drenthe, founded in the thirteenth century. In 1943, the second-largest oil field on the Western European mainland was discovered here. From junction 34, you'll cycle along the Dutch-German border. After passing through Laar, you'll arrive back at De Ganzenhoeve.
