Description

At Pannenkoekenboerderij De Ganzenhoeve you can enjoy a delicious meal, after which you get on the saddle full of energy. First you drive to Coevorden, a former fortified town. You cycle for a while along the old city canal, then you ride along the Stieltjeskanaal, which was completed in 1884. Just before junction 24 you pass the Katshaar, an earthen defense structure from 1672 that is surrounded by a heathland area. Western Forest enjoys a protected village view thanks to the beautiful monumental farms. Schoonebeek is one of the oldest mining villages in Drenthe, it was founded in the thirteenth century. In 1943, the second largest oil field on mainland Western Europe was found here. From junction 34 you cycle along the Dutch-German border. After crossing Laar you end up back at De Ganzenhoeve.
