Cycling through the Gelderse Vallei and along the Rhine

At Buitenhorst Vers en Smakelijk you can first stock up on something tasty before cycling into the Gelderse Vallei. On an avenue lined with trees you drive past a farm with a striking old building. This gatehouse is the only remnant of the former Harslo castle, which stood here from the fourteenth century until 1814. Further on you can enjoy the beautiful buildings in the historic center of Wageningen. You cross the Rhine by ferry, after which you drive a few kilometers along the floodplains and cross the river again. Then you cycle along the Valleikanaal. Between junctions 11 and 25 you drive along the Binnenveldse Hooilanden. This relatively new nature reserve is home to one of the largest blue grasslands in the Netherlands.
