Cycling route: 341499
Provided by: Groots Genieten
From Coevorden, you take a beautiful bike ride through the County of Bentheim. For the first few kilometers, you loosen up your legs as you cycle along the Coevorden-Piccardie Canal, which was dug at the end of the nineteenth century. Along the way, you look out over the vast grasslands and arable fields situated in the former peatlands. Just past Emlichheim (called Emmelkamp in Low Saxon), you ride a short distance through the Vecht Valley. You cross the river, after which you cycle to Itterbeck. Just above this village, you ride through the Itterbecker Heide, a large nature reserve with sandy heath, forests, and dry grassland. You cycle back to Coevorden along quiet roads, passing De Arend, a grain mill dating from 1894.
