Tour of Coevorden and Germany

The route starts at Hotel Restaurant Talens. From Coevorden you can take a beautiful bike ride through the County of Bentheim. The first kilometers will stretch your legs as you cycle along the Coevorden-Piccardie Canal, which was dug at the end of the nineteenth century. You look out over the vast grasslands and arable lands that lie in the former peat land. Just past Emlichheim (which is called Emmelkamp in Lower Saxony) you drive a bit through the Vechtdal. You cross the river, after which you cycle to Itterbeck. Just above this town you drive through the Itterbecker Heide, a large nature reserve with sand heath, forests and dry grassland. You cycle back to Coevorden on car-free roads, where you pass De Arend, a flour mill from 1894.
