The Achterhoek is one of the most beautiful cycling areas in the Netherlands. You cycle through an environment in which forests, streams and meadows alternate. You will also find a rich cultural history.

Typical Achterhoek
The route leads you through a part of National Landscape de Graafschap. You drive through beautiful nature reserves, such as Het Grote Veld, where you cycle between fragrant coniferous and deciduous trees. Just below Lochem you can see two fifty-meter high and wooded hills in the landscape: a striking view. The Beekvliet is a characteristic Achterhoek estate along the Barchem-Borculo road. Here you see a mosaic of farmland, deciduous and coniferous forest, imposing tree-lined avenues and hedgerows.

Lord of Borculo
The Zwiepse Molen is a flour mill from 1851. It originally stood on the Zwiepse Berg near Barchem, but was moved several times due to poor wind conditions, most recently in 1880. Lochem and Borculo are two pleasant towns. The oldest building in Lochem is the Sint-Gudulakerk, an originally wooden church from 950. The last major renovation took place in 1550. Borculo was purchased in 1777 by Prince Willem V van Oranje-Nassau, which is why King Willem-Alexander bears the title \ \\'Lord of Borculo\\'.

Farm museum De Lebbenbrugge
A beautiful and authentic location: that is the Lebbenbrugge. The rear house dates from 1400, the transverse house at the front was added around 1550. The building once served as a farmhouse, toll farm, inn and hunting lodge for the Lords of Borculo. During the peace negotiations in Münster it even served as a post office for a short time. Now a museum is housed in the old Saxon farmhouse. Here you get an idea of the way the farming population worked and lived here at the beginning of the twentieth century.

In this museum you can see what an inhabited farmhouse looked like around 1900. Everything stands and lies exactly where it would have been in the past for a true-to-life image. Imagine yourself in a bygone era here.
