Description

Your cycle route starts at Camping Kom-Es-An in Hengelo (Gelderland) in the Achterhoek. Via Hengelo and Steenderen you continue to the beautiful IJssel valley where you cycle into Bronkhorst. With about 160 inhabitants and city rights since 1344, Bronkhorst is the smallest town in the Netherlands. It has more the appearance of a picturesque village, with authentic farms and a beautiful location in the middle of farmlands. Original coats of arms hang in the chapel and the foundations of the former castle can still be found on the castle hill. On the way back you pass a listening point of the Liberation Route: L76 - Baak - Grenade impact after the liberation. Less than 48 hours after the liberation, Baak, which had come out of WWII relatively unscathed, was hit by a grenade.
