This route takes you through Oudenaarde, a city full of history in East Flanders. You will also explore the rural surroundings around this city and part of the natural Scheldt valley. In Heurnemeersen you drive through forests, wet grasslands and marshes. You will also pass the Ohio Bridge where a statue of a bison stands on each bank. Outside Oudenaarde you cycle through the green and rolling Flemish Ardennes. You will see many typical chapels and farms here. In the Maarkebeek valley you drive through a bocage landscape with poplar groves, hedges and wooded edges. Back in Oudenaarde you have plenty of time to enjoy this pleasant city. For example, you will find more than 100 monumental buildings. There are also plenty of nice restaurants and cafes where they serve, for example, one of the famous local brown beers.
