Soon after boarding you cycle through the Kropswolder Buitenpolder. From the path you look out over open water, reed marshes and wet grasslands. A wonderful view to freshen up with. A little later you drive into the Westerbroekstermadepolder, a name that will earn you a lot of points in Scrabble. You drive through characteristic old villages such as Engelbert and Harkstede, where next to the seventeenth-century Reformed Church there is a tower that dates from the thirteenth century.
