Description
Follow this city walk in the footsteps of the Oranjes in The Hague. The route takes you past palaces, historic monuments and beautiful palace gardens in the city center of The Hague.
You can see these Hague highlights during the route:
1. Escher in the Palace, admire the works of art by MC Escher in the old Palace of our Royal Family.
2. Huis Huguetan at 34 Lange Voorhout has a rich royal history.
3. A series of ecclesiastical ceremonies of the Oranges have taken place at the Kloosterkerk, Lange Voorhout 4, over the centuries.
4. Kneuterdijk Palace, Willem II once lived here, now the Council of State resides here.
5. Noordeinde Palace, the king's working palace, has an ancient history.
6. Take a break at Restaurant Sophia, in the Carlton Ambassador Hotel!
7. Royal stables, behind these walls are the carriages of the Oranges, also the Glass carriage.
8. Palace Garden, admire the Royal Archives and the palace.
9. Royal Archives, containing the personal archives of the members of the House of Nassau and Orange-Nassau.
10. Prinsestraat, named after Willem II and now a popular shopping street in't Hofkwartier
11. Grote Kerk, royal marriages have been consecrated here and princesses baptized.
12. Prince Willem V Gallery, in 1773 Prince Willem V built this Gem: the Netherlands' first museum.
13. Binnenhof and Ridderzaal, this has been the center of Dutch politics for centuries.
14. Mauritshuis, built in 1633 for Count Johan Mauritsen, now a famous museum.
15. Statue Prince William of Orange, 1533 - 1584, (nickname: Willem de Zwijger), 1848.
16. Cabinet of the King, in this 17th century house is the link between the King and ministers.
