Around the head of Schouwen

From Renesse you cycle first to Scharendijke. Then you drive through the wide polders. You regularly see a characteristic farm, you also pass't Hert, a flour mill from 1748. Just past Serooskerke you cycle along the Schelphoek. In the early 1900s, a harbor was built here to transport sugar beets. The flood disaster in 1953 devoured the harbor and some surrounding houses. The newly created creek area was designated as a nature reserve. Further on you pass the Plompetoren and look out over the Oosterschelde. Boswachterij Westerschouwen is the largest forest in Zeeland, it was planted at the beginning of the twentieth century as part of the job creation. Via charming Burgh-Haamstede you drive to the dunes on the north side of Schouwen-Duiveland. The route ends at Bicycle Rental Renesse.
