Dancing trees, views over the heath and of course that refreshing silence: a day on the Veluwe is never boring. Your route starts at Lounge 3. You cycle through the Speulderbos, a real primeval forest where nature is allowed to take its course and where it is wonderfully quiet. You will see gnarled oaks, crooked birches and tall ferns. When it is a bit foggy, it looks - with a little imagination - as if the trees are dancing. You can enjoy beautiful views on the Speulderveld and the Ermelosche Heide. On the Ermelosche Heide there are dozens of burial mounds from the time of the Bell Beaker culture, around 2500 BC. In the second century there was a military camp here with about 5,000 Roman legionnaires. Nowadays, sheep mainly roam the heath.
