Tour of Westerbork, Elperstroom and Schoonloo Forestry

Your route starts at Hotel Het Witte Veen. Westerbork is known for the National Monument Camp Westerbork, but the village itself is also worth a visit. Just outside Elp you cycle into the nature reserve around the Elperstroom. Groundwater is very important in this wet area. You cycle further through Boswachterij Schoonloo, which is part of an extensive forest area with dense forests and wet stream valleys. Schoonloo is located on the Rolderrug, a rise in the landscape that reaches its highest point here, namely 22 meters above NAP. You can feel it in your calves! Take a break in the beautiful Orvelte, a car-free brink village. It is one of the most beautiful villages in the Netherlands. In this open-air museum you have plenty of time to get to know the history of Drenthe.
