Tour of Westerbork, Aalden and Zweeloo

Your route starts at Hotel Het Witte Veen. From the saddle you have a beautiful view over the undulating heathland of the Het Scharreveld nature reserve. Westerbork is known for the National Monument Camp Westerbork, but the village itself is also worth a visit. Get off in beautiful Orvelte, a car-free green village. It is one of the most beautiful villages in the Netherlands. In this open-air museum you have plenty of time to get acquainted with Drenthe's history. You cycle through Zweeloo, which served as a source of inspiration for artists such as Vincent van Gogh at the end of the nineteenth century. A little further on you drive through Oud-Aalden, an old esdorp that consists entirely of beautiful Saxon farms. You cycle back through the Mepperdennen forest area.
