The walking route starts at Residence Rhenen, located on the road between Veenendaal and Elst. The à la carte Restaurant de Rotisserie is housed in the former Orangerie. Nice place to start with a nice cup of coffee and/or tea with something delicious. The Heuvelrug is the second largest forest area in the Netherlands after the Veluwe. You now see a small part of this beautiful park, but you can explore a much larger part by bike. Halfway to your left is the Kwintelooyen sand excavation, which is currently used as a day recreation area. Take note here how beautiful your view is over the Gelderse Vallei. From there you walk through the forest at an altitude that is alternated by long beech avenues and dense pine forests. You will return to your starting point through this beautiful green forest.
