This route takes you past the residences of the Dutch monarchy. You cycle past Soestdijk Palace and Drakenstein Castle. The tour covers approximately fifty kilometers through beautiful forests, heathland and drifting sand areas. Soon after departure you will pass Soesterberg air base. This former airport has been redesigned into a nature reserve. A few kilometers further is Lage Vuursche, the residence of former Queen Beatrix. You reach Soest via the Baarnsche Bos. Soestdijk Palace is the next monarchic residence. From 1948 to 1980 this was the home of Juliana and Bernard. You leave the palaces behind you and arrive back at the start and end point; Hotel Kontakt der Kontinenten. Relax with an overnight stay in one of the hotel rooms or enjoy the associated restaurant.

This beautiful lightly tinted mill is located in the middle of the Eng. The mill was rebuilt in 2006 less than a kilometer from where its predecessor stood until 1930.

The Crown Prince and his Russian wife had Soestdijk completely renovated into a real summer palace. Everything was decorated in Empire style with two extra side wings. During the Second World War, Soestdijk Palace housed many foreign soldiers, but when peace returned, the Royal family also returned to the palace. When Princess Beatrix was honored as queen in 1980, the palace no longer became a royal residence. Princess Juliana and Prince Bernhard lived there until their death in 2004. Pending a new use, the palace was temporarily opened to the public.
