Tour Zandbos and Ossenbeemd

Until the second half of the nineteenth century, this area was covered with heath and drifting sands. Now mainly Scots pines and American oaks grow there, although you also see other tree species. You walk around the Buntven, a nice place to take a break so that you can fully enjoy the silence and the natural beauty of this idyllic spot. The Buntven is a natural fen. In the countryside, the route takes you along car-free roads past meadows and fields. You walk back through the castle park, with the beautiful Small Castle and the ruins of the Large Castle. Both castles originally date from the fourteenth century.
