Tour of Doorwerth Castle and Planken Wambuis

Your route starts at EuroParcs De Hooge Veluwe. On the Veluwe you will find many different nature reserves, such as the beautiful Warnsborn Estate. You will also pass through the beautiful surroundings of Oosterbeek, the village that was so popular with painters in the nineteenth century. A little later you cycle along the floodplains of the Lower Rhine. Here you will find beautiful views over the water. Nearby you will discover the beautiful Doorwerth Castle, a beautiful example of a moated castle, where the thick outer walls together with the water provide protection. Then you cycle past listening point L20: Landings of paratroopers and gliders. Here you can hear how the sky was colorful on Sunday, September 17, 1944, when countless paratroopers landed here. You drive back through the woods of Planken Wambuis.
