Description

This beautiful historical walking route takes you along the special city gates of Enkhuizen. On the way back you will also discover the Zuiderzee Museum, the famous open-air museum of Enkhuizen. In Enkhuizen you will find sixteenth century water gates: a gate in the fortress wall that provides access to the city via the water. You will take a walk along the fortifications to see them all. City gate the Koepoort from 1649. A little further on you will find another water gate: the Boerenboom. The Oude Gouwsboom is the last water gate on your route. Then you will walk into the beautiful old Enkhuizen with its canals, before you set course for your starting point. On the way back you will walk all the way along the coast of the IJsselmeer.
