Tour of Doornenburg and Gelderse Poort

Your route starts at Restaurant de Woerdt, Camperplaats de Woerdt and Landwinkel de Woerdt. In Bemmel you can take a look at Kasteel De Kinkelenburg. The earliest mention of this castle dates from 1403, but at that time it was probably no more than a square stone residential tower. You cycle through the Lingewaard, part of the Gelderse Poort National Landscape. It is located in the area where the Rhine splits into the Waal and Neder-Rijn. You cycle here over winding dikes through a typical wide river landscape. Konik horses and red geuzen, a new breed of cattle, graze in the floodplains. In the landscape you regularly see remains of old floods. A little further on is the medieval castle Doornenburg. You cycle back through the Millingerwaard and Groenlanden.
