Cycling through the green belt around Hilversum

From Ankeveen you can take a cycle tour through the nature reserves around Hilversum. First you drive past some 's-Graveland estates, after which you drive onto the Hoorneboegse Heide. This nature reserve is home to old comb fields and about 20 burial mounds, so it is considered an archaeological monument. Around junction 83 you cycle through De Zuid Nature Reserve. Until the Second World War there was an extensive heathland here, after which large pine forests were planted. It is wonderfully quiet cycling here, ideal for a day of relaxation. Further on you drive through the Zuiderheide and Westerheide, after which you cycle over the Zanderij Crailoo Nature Bridge. With a length of 800 meters and a width of 50 metres, this is the largest ecoduct in the world. You drive back to Ankeveen through the Spanderswoud. Time for a nice meal at Restaurant 1244.
