Description

Nearby you will discover M89 - Zeddam - Oude Grafelijke Molen: a still working, medieval tower mill that is one of the oldest masonry mills in Western Europe. This mill was built around 1450 as a forced mill by order of Willem van den Bergh. Opposite the count's mill are the remains of a horse-powered mill. Zeddam's tower mill is in the Top 100 of the Dutch monument list! But the real highlight of this route is Huis Bergh Castle. The thirteenth century fortress is half enclosed by a rampart. There is also a moat around it for extra defense. The city of Heerenberg has had the privilege of having coins minted in De Munt since the Middle Ages.
