Your route starts at Gasterij Natural Smeerling. After the beautiful fortified town of Bourtange you cycle a short distance through the German Emsland, via the Hasseberg. This hill, located more than 14 meters above NAP, is the highest point in the province of Groningen. At Ter Apel you will pass the famous medieval Crosier Monastery from 1465, a UNESCO monument. You can walk through the herb garden and visit an exhibition. At the monastery you cycle through forests that were planted around 800 and are among the oldest in Groningen. You will see large, imposing old oaks and beeches. Sellingen is a beautiful medieval esdorp, the eye-catcher is the village church from 1300. You also cycle through the valley of the Ruiten Aa: a variety of convex fields, hay meadows, bushes and hedgerows.

The beautiful Smeerling is located in the Westerwolde region, in the valley of the diamonds A. There you will find Gasterij Natural Smeerling. Naturally prepared regional products are used that you can enjoy on the cozy terrace.
