Your route starts at Holiday Park De Rimboe and Woeste Hoogte . You cycle to Radio Kootwijk via the pleasant village of Hoenderloo, at the eastern entrance of De Hoge Veluwe National Park. This transmitting station was built in the 1920s for telegraphic contact with the then Dutch East Indies. The area around the former transmitter and the associated hamlet is a protected village because of its cultural-historical value. War memorial Radio Kootwijk commemorates the time when the Germans occupied the radio station during the Second World War. The Kootwijkerzand is the largest active sand drift in Western Europe. At bicycle junction 41 you will find Hoog Buurlo, where there have traditionally been a few houses and two sheepfolds. Via Boswachterij Ugchelen-Hoederloo you drive back to your starting point, straight through the woods.
