In the core still exists the square 13th century residential tower with 2 meter thick walls. There is an oval ring wall around the residential tower. In 1318, the castle was destroyed down to basement level by the Liège bishop.

The current castle is a fortress of the seventeenth-century castle that was demolished in 1847. There is a wide moat around the imposing castle and on the west side is a gatehouse that you can reach over an arch bridge.
