Walk Zuiderpark and Huis te Werve

Your route starts at Brasserie Near Home / Hotel Hoevevoorde. From here you first walk to Huis te Werve, which is located in a protected nature park. The site is partly on a 5000 year old, nutrient-poor beach ridge and partly on nutrient-rich peat, clay and sandy soils. You reach the monumental country house via the driveway of the estate and from the terrace you have a view of the pigeon tower. There is an English garden, a fern garden and a woodland garden. The mansion is colonial English with contemporary chandeliers and marble floors. Partly due to the pond, the estate attracts about eighty bird species. After a stopover at your starting point (lunch time!) you will discover the beautiful Zuiderpark. This park was built in the interwar period and is considered the first Dutch public park.
