Tour of Nijkerk, De Neude and Appelsche Heide

Your route starts at Ackersate Holiday Park. In the Gelderse Vallei around Nijkerk it is wonderful to cycle thanks to endless views, historical sights and a refreshing silence. Past Voorthuizen, where you can take a look at the striking village church, you pass through the Appelsche Heide, a forest and heath area where wild gale and juniper also grow. You cycle along a leafy road to Driedorp. You pass through Slichthorst, a hamlet where you see some historic farms. At number 30 on the Slichterhorsterweg you will pass a country house from 1927, an almost intact example of the early Delft School. It forms the core of the De Neude estate. Details such as the decorative ironwork make it very special. You cycle back along the edge of the Veluwe forests.
