E-bike route: Hoorn and Enkhuizen from Medemblik

You immediately drive onto the dike here. Get some fresh air, while enjoying the view over the IJsselmeer. Enkhuizen is the first stop on your route. You will pass three of the old city gates here. In Broekerhaven you will see a monumental ferry, after which you will drive into Hoorn. You can admire many characteristic buildings here. You will also pass the Museum of the Twentieth Century, a nice stop. Just outside Hoorn you will drive past the Windmill Krijgsman: its two predecessors were destroyed by wind and lightning. Medemblik was granted city rights by Count Floris V as early as 1289. It grew into a prosperous port city. You can still see this rich history in the many beautiful old buildings.
