Tour of Het Stift, Saasveld and Zenderen

Your starting point, De Stiftsjuffer, is in a special location. The Stift near Weerselo is a monastery where, from the fourteenth century, unmarried noble ladies were provided with a good education. Be sure to visit the Stiftskerk, which was completely rebuilt in 1600 after a fire. The attractive Stiftsplein with its majestic oak trees and beautiful buildings is also worth a visit. Then you get on your bike for a tour along the Saasveldermolen (or Soaseler Möl as the people of Twente call it) near a small nature reserve around the Molenven. The flour mill dates from 1870. Grotenhuis Castle is a relatively small manor. The current Grotenhuis farm was built on the foundations of the old manor. In the 17th century it was nicknamed 'The Haunted House', when Catholic services were held there.
