Walk Reeuwijkse Plassen, Driebruggen and Waarder

You can take a loop walk around Driebruggen through the beautiful Dutch peat area. First you walk on low-traffic roads to the Reeuwijkse Plassen. This system of peat lakes was created in the eighteenth century by peat extraction. The fuel was used by local potters and beer brewers, among others. Now you can fully enjoy the unique natural beauty here. Back in Driebruggen you can relax with a snack and drink at Café Custwijc before you walk to the hamlet of Westeinde. As you walk along the winding path here, you will see willows, ditches and some monumental farms. Further on you walk through Waarder. Here you can take a look at the Reformed Church from 1500. Finally, you walk through the Ruige Weide polder. How wonderfully quiet it is here!
