Description

First you drive to Oost-Souburg. Here you can take a look at the old ring wall. You then cycle through Ritthem and Oudedorp to Arnemuiden. You drive on low-traffic roads through a landscape of meadows, fields, rows of trees and high skies. Further on you cross De Piet, a side arm of the Veerse Meer. To the left of the road you see forests and then the unspoilt Middelplaat, a few uninhabited islands. Wolphaartsdijk was once an island, now it is embedded in South Beveland. You pass De Hoop, a flour mill from 1808. You cycle through the flat polder land to Fort Rammekens, which originally dates from 1547. It is the oldest surviving sea fortress in Western Europe. You drive along the Western Scheldt to Vlissingen.
