Eastern Scheldt route via Tholen

From Brasserie De Deu-Braek you can take a bike ride through Tholen. Stavenisse is a charming village. Then you cycle into the polders: how quiet it is here! In Sint Maartensdijk you can see beautiful historic buildings on the Markt. Just outside the village you cycle through the Pluimpot nature reserve, the last remnant of the channel that cut the island of Tholen in two until 1556. After the flood disaster, this channel was deemed unsafe and closed. On the other side is Yerseke, a ferry goes back and forth if you feel like a boat trip (and mussels!). You cycle back along the Krabbenkreek, which is part of the Oosterschelde National Park. Sint-Annaland is a village worth seeing where a road runs directly from the harbour to the Protestant Church from 1899.
