Altenburg-Colditz-Radroute

With a total length of 54 kilometres, the Altenburg Colditz cycle route leads mainly on level roads from Altenburg in Thuringia through the Leinawald to the Kohrener Land through to Gnandstein. The 13th-century Gnandstein Castle is considered Saxony's best-preserved Romanesque fortress. The well-developed route network connects idyllic places such as Kohren Sahlis, where the handicraft pottery has a long tradition. With the charming town of Frohburg and the spa town of Bad Lausick. Rest areas along the route invite you to get off and linger. The pristine flora and fauna of the Colditz Forest allow cyclists to reach Colditz, which is also the destination of the cycle route.
The imposing Colditz Castle is considered the landmark of the town, its history dates back to the 11th century and was at the same time a ruler's seat, hunting lodge and widow's residence.
