Description

The route starts and ends at Hotel Brasserie Verhoeven in Uden, a beautiful town with a special location on the Peelrand fracture. From here you can walk straight into the Maashorst, a varied nature reserve. The Maashorst measures approximately 2400 ha. of which Staatsbosbeheer 569 ha. has in possession. The core of the area is formed by the Schaijkse Heide, a dry heathland area that was largely planted with coniferous forest in the 1930s. A number of agricultural reclamations have also taken place there, which are now managed with respect for nature. A number of other forest areas, such as Slabroek and Udenoord, join in and together form a horseshoe-like, more or less contiguous area. The center of the area is formed by a sparsely populated, fairly open agricultural area, without through paved roads.
