Walking through Bolsward and the countryside

Bolsward is ideal for a varied walk. You will find plenty of cultural history, in the countryside you can enjoy the peace and the views. First you walk your legs on the towpath along the Bolswardertrekvaart. This canal was built in 1638 at the expense of the city of Bolsward. In Burgwerd you can see the Johanneskerk, this building originally dates from the thirteenth century. You walk to Hartwerd on a winding road. Here you see an authentic Frisian bell chair. Bolsward enjoys a protected cityscape because of the many well-preserved old buildings. It is wonderful to stroll along the canals here. The town hall from 1617 is one of the historic eye-catchers.
