Today is the day for Dutch folklore. While the riders in France today cross the Glandon (21 kilometers of climbing), we ride straight through the flat North Holland countryside. In Warmenhuizen (just above Schoirl) was the polka dot cafe that painted its walls with red dots when resident Steven Rooks won the polka dot jersey in the Tour de France in 1988. We drive on and arrive a few tens of kilometers lower in Volendam (time for a fish?). Via Monnickedam we drive through Broek en Waterland, a real water paradise. We drive through Wijderwormer and end up in De Zaanse Schans, where windmill enthusiasts will get their money's worth. The line is today in Zaandam.
