The feeling of the Brabant Kempen

Kempen villages
Most of the route takes you through nature, but you also cycle through a number of typical Kempen villages and hamlets. The most special place on the route is Luykgestel. At the time of the Republic of the United Netherlands, this town formed an enclave. Luykgestel was then in the possession of the Prince-Bishopric of Liège. The border church of Luykgestel attracted many Catholics from the surrounding villages who were not allowed to practice their faith in the Republic. The place has been part of North Brabant since 1818.

Nature Gate The Ninth Zaeligheyt
Nature Gate De Negende Zaeligheyt is the start and end point of this route. This restaurant is located in the middle of nature and you can go there for a drink, lunch or dinner. In cold weather you can relax by the fireplace in the restaurant and when it is warmer you can go to the terrace. Overnight accommodation is also possible, you can stay in a log cabin, a family farm, a holiday home or at a camper place.

A Danish mill
In Luykgestel you cycle past the De Deen mill, a flour mill from 1839. This mill was built on behalf of a Danish miller. That immediately explains the name of the mill. Originally this was a ground sailor, but in 1914 the mill was converted into a mountain mill. In the past, this mill could not only grind flour, but also oil. The mill is still operational.
