Round Horst

You can take a cycling tour between the Limburg village of Horst and the Maas that is rich in natural beauty and cultural history. Via Melderslo you drive to the Houthuizerheide, where you cycle through the fragrant conifers. In the adjacent nature reserve Het Schuitwater you will see a mosaic of alder forest, swamp vegetation, coniferous forest and heathlands. In Broekhuizen you can take a look at the fifteenth-century St. Nicholas Church. Further on you pass Ooijen Castle and near Blitterswijck you pass Exhibition 40-45, a private museum about the Second World War. Just before Tienray you cycle along the Diepeling. Sand and gravel have been extracted here for decades, the area will soon be developed as a nature reserve. You drive back through the valley of the Groote Molenbeek to Graaf Ter Horst. Time for a snack and a drink!
