Tour of “Dijk van een Wijf”

This route takes you through the Gendtse Waard: a beautiful nature reserve on the Waal. From the Waaldijk you walk a bit along the river. You have a beautiful view over the rippling water. After a while you will also see a'Dijk van een Wijf\\\' from a distance: a special work of art of about three meters high. On the Kaaksedam you walk through the untouched nature of the renovated Gendtse Waard. You see riparian forests, marshes and flowery grasslands. This nature reserve is grazed year round by cattle and horses. You walk a short distance into Gendt, passing the Reformed Church. The tower is detached, it dates back to the fifteenth century. The last part of the route you walk back to Waalstrand Camping on quiet roads.
